Berkeley Gourmet Ghetto Excursion

Chez PanissePeet's Coffee and TeaWe've brought our passion for Bay Area artisan food and wine to North Berkeley's Gourmet Ghetto. Excursion participants will be introduced to the area's history as the birthplace of California Cuisine spearheaded by Alice Waters' Chez Panisse. The weekly excursions will feature conversations with the area's chefs and food purveyors, as well as a mouth-watering assortment of tastings and samples. Stops on the excursion through the historic culinary mecca will include the original Peet's Coffee & Tea in Walnut Square, the eclectic food shops at Epicurious Garden, the Vintage Berkeley Wine Shop, and the area's weekly all-organic Farmers Market. Along the way, participants will get to taste some of the following local artisan edibles:

Love at First Bite- Cupcakes made from scratch at Love at First Bite Cupcakery & Bakery
- Raw food goodies at Cafe Gratitude
- Crispy Potato Puffs at Gregoire's
Cheeseboard Collective- Local pastrami on ACME rye with housemade soda at Saul's Delicatessen
- Coffee at the Original Peet's Coffee & Tea
- Organic specialties from the Juice Bar Collective
- Chocolate works of art at Alegio Chocolates
- Housemade Soups from SOOP in Epicurious Garden
- The Cheeseboard Collective; a Berkeley institution
- Local, seasonal and organic produce at the North Berkeley Farmers Market

Selections and stops on the excursion will be changed seasonally.

Excursion Schedule - Every Thursday from 11am - 2:15pm, year-round. $75 per person.
NEW! Starting 2/5/2011, we will be offering a weekly Saturday excursion from 10am - 1pm.
There are only 4 voucher reservations available per tour.

Reservations can be made by clicking on the date you would like (in the calendar on this page) to schedule this excursion directly.


Cancellation Policy:

All tickets are nonrefundable and can not be exchanged or rescheduled.
If excursion fails to meet minimum enrollment (4 guests), Edible Excursions will contact guests 5 days in advance to reschedule or offer a refund.
Reservations must be made 48 hours in advance.
Excursions run rain or shine.
Everyone age 3 and up will need a ticket.
