Planning for Passover

Wise Sons Matzo Ball Soup

Wise Sons Matzo Ball Soup

PSA for last-minute Passover planners: We’ve got you covered.

If you’re planning on cooking gefilte fish, matzo ball soup, braised brisket, slow-roasted rack of lamb, potato kugel, or chocolate macaroon cake, find recipes for all at Bon Appetit, Epicurious, and Saveur. Plenty of spring vegetable dishes on those sites—hello asparagus—too.

For those opting for a completely vegetarian seder, find more here, here, and here.

Perhaps you want to eat at home but order in. If so, may we suggest our tour partners Wise Sons Jewish Delicatessen in San Francisco and Saul’s Restaurant & Delicatessen in Berkeley for your catering needs.

And if you’re opting to eat out: There’s still room at the table for the Saturday Wise Sons Seder at the Contemporary Jewish Museum. On the menu at their 8th annual Passover Seder find all the fixings, including charoset and chopped liver, red wine braised brisket with potato kugel and tzimmis, and flourless chocolate torte. Vegetarian meals available with advance order. Optional wine pairing courtesy of Scribe Winery.

Across the Bay, Saul’s is still taking reservations for Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20 Passover Seders. Menu items include pacifiic gefilte souffle, braised brisket with prunes and cherries, chicken apricot braise with dukkah dust, and almond coconut cake.

Meanwhile, our friends at Beauty’s Bagels in Oakland’s Temescal neighborhood is another option for picking up wood-fired matzoh, matzoh ball soup, chopped liver, chrain, and macaroons for your Passover feast.

Nosh on.
