Ferry Building Food Tour and Alcatraz Excursion

ABOUT THE TOUR

$172 per person (includes $41.00 face value Alcatraz ticket + $2 booking fee)

Two entertaining and engaging historical landmarks bring you the ultimate, day-long San Francisco excursion exploring land, sea, food, and history. You'll begin with a 90 minute tasting tour of the best of the Ferry Building Marketplace, where a knowledgable guide/food industry professional leads you on a historic, food-filled journey of the building's local, artisan cuisine and food purveyors. After a brief break, you'll then voyage by ferry to one of the city’s most popular attractions, Alcatraz Island, for a self-guided tour of the beautiful island and its history-packed maximum-security prison that has drawn San Francisco Bay Area tourists for decades.

Come hungry! You'll sample award-winning tastes from the Bay Area’s best food artisans, learning how this historic transportation building became the ultimate destination for food lovers - locals and visitors alike. Expect artisan cheese from Cowgirl Creamery, fresh loaves from Acme Bread, chocolate confections from Recchuiti, and French macarons from Miette (subject to change).

Once you’ve satisfied your culinary cravings, we’ll direct you to Pier 33 (a short walk from the Ferry Building) to Alcatraz Landing (map) to pick up your tickets for the Alcatraz Cruise afternoon departure to The Rock. Most guests like approximately 2.5 hours for exploring the island, but you are welcome to return when you choose. A self-guided headset tour (with Al Capone talking in your ear!) is also included in the ticket price.
