Japantown Tour 2.0

Ask and you shall receive. Back on the schedule: our Japantown tour. Join us Friday, Saturday or Monday at 11 a.m. for a public tour of this San Francisco neighborhood, one of the country's only remaining Japantowns. The three-hour tour is filled with fabulous food, rich with history, and highlights the resilience of this community. Want to make this a private tour? Any time, any day, and for any group size, Edible Excursions provides private, customized food tours on your schedule. Use this itinerary, or let us craft a unique experience for you.

Thank you to the Japanese American Citizens League, Japan Society of Northern California, Japantown Taskforce, and Japantown Merchants Association, who have all helped shape our Japantown Tour through generously sharing their insights and knowledge.

Shout out to Bob Hamaguchi (RIP) and Rich Hashimoto for community introductions, history lessons, family stories and more. And special mention to the late Greg Marutani. Greg played a major role in the development of the tour. He is greatly missed and we honor his memory.

Shout out to our Japantown partners who make this tour such a success. Discover where to find the best ramen, onigiri, okonomiyaki, sushi, takoyaki, boba, mochi and more. Here's to the local businesses we partner with, including Hinodeya Ramen Bowl, Kissako Tea, Matcha Cafe Maiko, Paper Tree, Super Mira Market and Takoyaki Yama-chan.

We also partner with Hotel Kabuki, which offers boutique accommodation and fine dining excellence at the on-site, award-winning Thai restaurant Nari. We look forward to offering the return of a traditional Japanese tea ceremony in the hotel’s lobby courtesy of tea master and Edible Excursions friend Kanako Nishimura.
